Jefferson Pipe Band to present A Day on the Green

August 24, 2016 by

The Jefferson Pipe Band, a Scottish Highland bagpipe and drums group, will be hosting a fundraiser golf event next month. The event will be a relaxing round of golf followed by entertainment and food.

Tickets are running $100 each. Along with the green fees, they will include a golf cart, range balls, dinner, entertainment, and a shot at winning a door prize. Local businesses have been asked to sponsor holes along the course for $100 each, and to donate raffle prizes.

The band is a 501(c) (3) educational nonprofit organization the mission of which is to teach and promote music of Highland drums and bagpipes. Beginning in 1985 with one drummer and four pipers, the group has grown to seven drummers and 18 pipers. All proceeds from this and the other events that are being hosted by the band will go to help defray expenses for the band’s trip to Glasgow, Scotland, where it will be participating in the 2017 World’s Pipe Band Championships.

There is still time for flyers about this event to be sent to organizations before they get their September newsletter printing done.

Day on the Green will be Sunday, September 18. A shotgun start will be at 1:00 pm at the Gold Hills Country Club, 1950 Gold Hills Drive, Redding. The event is scheduled to end at 9:00 pm (PDT).
