Firefighters to the rescue at upcoming toy drive

Firefighters in Rancho Cucamonga will be raising funds for a good cause later this month, as the California Pizza Kitchen, located at the Victoria Gardens Mall on Main Street, teams up with the firefighters for a day-long fundraiser to help the Spark of Love Toy Drive.

Locals are invited to drop in for lunch or dinner, and 20% of the check will be donated by the restaurant; this is even included on beverages, catering orders, and take out.

This is not the first time the firefighters have raised funds for Spark of Love. Their 2012 drive generated enough money to give gifts to more than 2,100 children in the Rancho Cucamonga area. Donations for the 2013 drive will be specifically used to buy gifts for pre-teens and teens; age groups that traditionally receive fewer gift donations during the holiday season.

In addition to the fundraiser, Spark of Love Toy Drive is also accepting gift donations brought directly to fire stations. To donate, locals only need to bring an unused, unwrapped toy or sports equipment to a fire station any time before Christmas.

In order to participate in the California Pizza Kitchen fundraiser, community members are required to bring a promotional flyer with them to the restaurant. While many will print out the poster from the Rancho Cucamonga city website, organizers may find it helpful to print up the flyers at a local printing company.

The fundraiser is to be held on Saturday, December 12.
