Fans jazzed by Earnhardt’s Auto Club visit

March 9, 2014 by

It was short notice, but when word got out that Dale Earnhardt Jr. would appear at Auto Club Speedway on February 26, 300 NASCAR fans showed up. Earnhardt is one of NASCAR’s most well-known drivers and is the winner of the 2014 Daytona 500.

The short journey that Rancho Cucamonga‘s Dale Jr. fans had to undertake that morning will no doubt have been worthwhile to see the famous driver in person. Earnhardt was on a national media tour that included Southern California. The Fontana stop was a late addition to the Los Angeles leg of a media tour that commenced in New York City on February 24, continued through Bristol, Connecticut and on to Austin, Texas before hitting the West Coast.

Track officials contacted season-ticket holders via email late on the Monday night. On the Tuesday, news of the upcoming event was posted on Facebook. Wednesday saw Earnhardt sitting next to Gillian Zucker, the track president, and interactict with the crowd of fans for 30 minutes. He spoke of his victory at Daytona and the strategy that enabled the win, among other topics.

A similar session with Earnhardt is to occur at the NASCAR garage area on the day of the Auto Club 400, March 23. Special functions that occur in conjunction with a long scheduled event like the Auto Club 400 often benefit greatly from promotion via a poster printing.
