Chris Rock’s mother to give parenting advice in Rancho Cordova
September 15, 2012 by Mark
Rose ‘Mama’ Rock, author, foster parent, educator, and mother of 10, will provide her insight on successful parenting as part of Rancho Cordova’s Remodeling the Village project. Her keynote address will be based on her book, ‘Ten Lessons for Raising a Houseful of Successful Children’, which presents a sensible approach to parenting integrated with her unique sense of humor. She is also the mother of comedian Chris Rock.
The keynote address will kick off a series of events, all aimed at increasing parent involvement in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD). The Remodeling the Village project is a joint venture between the FCUSD and the City of Rancho Cordova and is based on the concept that it takes a village to raise a child. The goal is to work together to improve the community, improve family literacy, and foster academic achievement.
Advertising for the event could include poster printing, brochures, and flyer printing. FCUSD superintendent, Debbie Bettencourt, says that parents are the key to success of the students. Printing companies could help to create promotional material that captures this sentiment and encourages parents to become directly involved in their children’s education.
The event will be held on Sunday, September 29, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, at the First Convent Church. Admission is free, but seats must be reserved at the Ticketleap website. Daycare will be provided for young children, while older children will be engaged in fun activities. Immediately following the presentation, Rock will be available for a booksigning.
