Runners to work up a sweater in Anaheim

December 3, 2013 by

Running and walking enthusiasts with an ugly sweater are invited to take part in The Sweater Dash in Anaheim. The 5K run or walk is a fun holiday event for all ages, including residents in nearby Placentia. Participants can bring a toy for the event’s drive to help children in need.

Registration for the light-hearted race costs $52 for adults and $25 for children ages nine and under. Babies in strollers are free. Online registration closes on December 12 at 3:00 pm PST, and the price of registration includes a sweater dash ornament, race bib, sweater mason jar, and one complimentary glass of apple cider.

In the middle of the course, there will be music, water, and holiday movie-themed photo opportunities. After the race, participants can go to the festival area where there will be snow, vendors, and food. There will also be free photo booths and pictures with Santa. It is likely local businesses will use print companies to produce banners and flyers to advertise during the event.

There is a mandatory packet pickup on December 13 from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm at the Sports Authority at 13702 Jamboree Road in Irvine. Those who pick up their packet on race day will be charged a $5 convenience fee.

The Sweater Dash takes place on December 14 at Angels Stadium located at 2000 East Gene Autry Way in Anaheim. This is a popular race and registration is likely to fill up fast.
