Oceanside residents will have plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to choose from when the city’s Parks and Recreation Department launches its annual spring recreation program at the end of March. Few if any people will feel left out as classes, events and programs are designed to appeal to children, adults and seniors alike. A variety of sports leagues, aquatic programs, leisure activities are planned.
Regardless of whether the activity involves softball, baseball, an exercise class, learning a new skill or involving your entire family in an event can have a positive impact on mental health. Studies have found that city-operated activities programs can enhance your life by increasing socialization and decreasing boredom, according to the Parks and Recreation Department.
Outdoor beach activities like volleyball may be well suited for the city of Oceanside with its 3.5 miles of beach. Oceanside sits in between Los Angeles and San Diego. The community is known for its perfect weather year round. The department’s motto is “Parks Make Life Better.”
Registration for Spring activities opens Monday, March 5. Classes are scheduled to begin the week of March 26. Residents are encouraged to sign-up as early as possible because the number of spaces allotted per activity tends to fill up quickly.
More information on the Spring activities schedule is available by logging onto the city’s website at www.ci.oceanside.ca.us, or by calling 760-435-5041. Flyer printing could also be used to help inform local residents of the upcoming class schedules as well as provide registration forms.
