OC kicks off the season with Summer Fest 2013

Locals can start their summer with a longstanding Orange County tradition – Summer Fest.

For 25 years, Orange County residents have launched the summer with this festival of fun, food, and family entertainment. Here in Santa Ana, residents are very close to the fun, yet far enough away to avoid having to deal with parking hassles. Summer Fest 2013 is held this year in nearby Brea at St. Angela Merici Parish School.

Billed as the largest community event in the northern Orange County, the festival draws over 25,000 people. With a combination of live entertainment, amusement rides, games, and food, the festival’s popularity make it an excellent advertising opportunity for politicians and entrepreneurs. The distribution of promotional materials and gifts, as well as an ample supply of digital business cards and flyer printing, is likely to be warranted for this event.

Entertainment includes several tribute bands, including nods to such popular acts as Aerosmith, the Smiths, the Beach Boys, and Journey. In addition to the usual rides, this year’s festival will include The Super Shot, which rises to almost 10 stories before providing a thrill free-fall experience.

The event, taking place over the weekend of May 31, June 1, and June 2, is free to the public, as are all concerts. Seating is first come, first serve. Summer Fest 2013 starts at 5:00 pm that Friday and at noon on Saturday and Sunday, with each day’s activities running until 11:00 pm.
