Lunafest comes to Yountville
March 5, 2014 by Max
Yountville residents, and those in nearby Napa, have the opportunity to attend the inspirational film festival called Lunafest.
Traveling to different towns, Lunafest brings short films with a female focus. The festival raises money for breast cancer but the majority goes to causes specific to the community. For Yountville, the event will help fund ‘Napa Emergency Women’s Services’ and ‘Girls On The Run Napa Valley’.
Included in the short films is one about blind dating, another focusing on a female wrestler, and a third called ‘Granny’s Got Game’. The films are designed to be uplifting and also make people think.
The Soroptimist International of St. Helena Sunrise is hosting this event. The organization helps local women to improve their finances, skills, and education. It also gives awards to girls for their community service endeavors. Using postcard printing services, this organization could send out a direct mailer with information about the film festival.
Tickets cost $40 and can be purchased on the Lunafest website. Here, interested organizations can also find information on how to host an event of their own.
On March 20, the event will take place at the Lincoln Theater located at 100 California Drive. At 6:00 pm, there will be a welcome reception with hors d’oeuvres. The films will begin at 7:00 pm. After the viewings, there will be champagne and sweet treats.
