Author to entertain at Napa venue

November 8, 2013 by

Food author Michael Pollan will be speaking at the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center next week.

The event is part of Napa Valley Reads series, and is a Napa County Office of Education program. By bringing authors to speak and providing young readers with engaging books, the program hopes to encourage children to read. Each year, a new book and author are highlighted.

Time magazine dubbed Pollan as one of the ‘World’s Most Influential People.’ His ideas on health have challenged readers and followers to think about what they eat. He is the author of a handful of books including The Omnivore’s Dilemma. This year, Napa Valley Reads will be focusing on Pollan’s bestselling book Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual.

During the November 13 event, Pollan will be doing a book signing at 6:00 pm, during which time there will also be food and activities. At 7:00 pm, there will be a presentation in which the author discusses how to simplify diets and make healthy food choices. Napa printing companies have likely provided flyers to give information about the event.

Tickets for the event cost $15 for general admission and $5 for college students with a valid ID. Children in grades K-12 are free. Tickets can be purchased at the box office or online for a $3 service fee.

The Napa Valley Performing Arts Center is located at Lincoln Theater, 100 California Dr. in Yountville, California. For more information, contact Seana Wagner at (707) 265-2351.
