Roller Girls gets their skates on amid a busy few days

The OC Roller Girls will have a flat track roller derby this weekend at the Rinks, 5555 McFadden Avenue in Huntington Beach right next to Los Alamitos.

Both the junior girls and home teams will be competing as part of the Psychos Ex Girlfriends versus the Crash Test Bunnies event. It gets underway at 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2013 Food trucks will be available at 5:15 pm.

After that, music lovers will no doubt enjoy the 33rd Annual Baroque Music Festival, which takes place beginning at 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 16 at the St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 2200 San Joaquin Hills Road in Newport Beach just 20 minutes from Los Alamitos.

First up are Baroque Concertos, performed on period musical instruments or close reproductions from the music of Georg Philipp Telemann, Christoph Graupner, and Antonio Vivaldi. Admission is $40.

The fun continues on Monday, June 17, at 8:00 pm with a traditional organ recital at the Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Organist Ian Pritchard will be the soloist this year performing music by German composer Johan Casper Ferdinand Fischer along with selections from Bach and Buxtehude. Admission is $20.

The festival continues with concerts on Wednesday thanks to Clifton Massey, a counter tenor, and on Friday with a chamber group featuring first chair musicians from local orchestras. Both concerts will be held at the Sherman Library and Gardens, 2647 East Coast Hwy Corona Del Mar.
