No plaice like Los Alamitos this Friday

There is plenty still on the menu this month in Los Alamitos, and things get sizzling this weekend as the Knights of Columbus host a fish fry at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church.

The menu includes beer-battered cod or salmon, French fries, macaroni and cheese or rice, vegetables, coleslaw, clam chowder, and dessert. The cost is $9 for adults, $6 for children aged 3 – 12 years or $30 per family. March 22 will certainly be a fishy Friday from 5:30 pm.

A boost in the economy means a boost in new home sales, so now is the perfect time to attend the home-buying seminar at 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 28.

The event will be held at RPM Mortgage, 10600 Los Alamitos Boulevard, #160, Los Alamitos. Subjects to be covered include veteran’s loans, FHA home loans, first time buyer programs, how to boost FICO scores, information on escrow and title insurance, and the benefits of owning over renting.

Then, all families are invited to the Spring Carnival this year from 9:00 – 11:00 am on Saturday, March 30, at Little Cottonwood Park, 4000 Farquhar Avenue. Two food trucks will be available with items for purchase.

Egg hunt start times are 9:30 am for children of eight years and older; 9:40 am for children aged 4 – 7 years; and 9:50 am for children aged 1 – 3 years. Parents are only allowed to participate with the children in the youngest of the three groups.

There will also be carnival games and other kid-friendly events. Postcard printing and flyer printing are two possible ways to alert community residents of these upcoming events.
