The city of Lancaster will once again hold its fireworks extravaganza later this week at the AV Fairgrounds.

Fireworks are not legal to set off within the city limits, but the organized fireworks display will begin at approximately 9:00 pm after the conclusion of the Professional Bullriders Touring Pro Division event, which begins at 7:00 pm this Thursday, July 4.

Gates open at 4:00 pm with food and arts and crafts vendors and live music. Following the rodeo and fireworks display will be an after party with music by Jacob Nelson and the Tone Wranglers.

Tickets are priced at $5 – $20. Free firework viewing areas are located outside of the grandstands. Parking is $5 and the fairgrounds are located at 2551 West Avenue H, Lancaster. For more information, call (661) 575-9800

Fireworks are now on sale in the city of Palmdale. Only Safe and Sane fireworks are permitted within the Palmdale city limits with the exception of the housing community of Anaverde, areas in Rancho Vista, and all areas south of the California Aqueduct. These areas are considered high risk fire areas.

An interactive map showing the location of these non-firework areas is available on the city of Palmdale’s website. In the other areas, fireworks can be set off legally now through noon on Friday, July 5.

Those planning to use fireworks should keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby to put out any flare ups. Adults should always be present during the lighting of fireworks. Flyer printing is an ideal way to let residents know fireworks safety tips.
