Two chances to crack code this month
September 9, 2013 by James
Web-weavers have two opportunities to broaden their web design and development horizons this month.
First up is a workshop on Angular JS, designed to build complex maintainable web applications. It begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, at Crescent Solutions in Irvine, less than 30 minutes from Laguna Nigel.
At 1:00 pm that same day, the Fast Start Studio in Irvine Coder Dojo will offer a free coding class to kids ages 5 – 17. There are four sessions for kids to choose from: ‘Intro to Scratch’ and ‘Intermediate/Advanced Scratch’ from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, and Intro to HTML and ‘Intermediate/Advanced Programming’ from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Participants should bring their own laptop and charger, and parents must stay with kids age 12 and younger.
Scratch is a form of programming that uses coded bricks to teach kids the proper arrangement for coding in an easy-to-use format. This teaches them logical thinking, so they can better understand what syntax is.
HTML is used for all types of web pages and applications and is relatively easy to learn. Understanding HTML makes programming of web pages easier for a variety of platforms.
Fast Start Studio is located at 15550 Rockfield Boulevard in Irvine. Many instruction manuals can be reproduced for classes like these at a local printing company.
