Photography classes take students to the next level

The residents of Santa Ana and nearby Laguna Nigel will have the chance to learn more about digital SLR cameras when a special workshop comes to the area this weekend.

Topics to be covered by the workshop include focusing and sharpness choices, metering and its effect on exposure, and white balance. The instructors will also teach how to use shortcuts and the different menu functions.

This course covers the Canon 1DX, 5D II or III, 6D, and 7D cameras only.

Participants will need a camera, a charged battery and memory card with room for photos.

Later in the workshop, there will be a basic photography class with tips on shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and histogram. This class will take novices and give them enough information to produce impressive looking photographs.

Both workshops will be led by Michael Nadler, who is a former Canon professional technician. Nadler has a degree in photojournalism from CSU Fullerton. He helped bring Canon into the digital age and has been an advisor to Apple, Disney, CBS, NBC, Adobe, and Microsoft.

He has been working with photographers from around the globe for more than 15 years. Participants can create a history of their photography experience by compiling photos through the courses and having them printed at a local print company.

The workshop will take place from 10:00am on Saturday, August 24 at Samy’s Camera, 3309 South Bristol Street in Santa Ana, just 30 minutes from Laguna Nigel.
