Laguna Nigel annual holiday parade to be held December 8
November 24, 2012 by James
Laguna Nigel celebrates its annual holiday parade on Saturday, December 8, 2012. This year’s theme is ‘Honoring Our Heroes’ and salutes all who have served in the military. Grand Marshall for the parade is the Freedom Committee of Orange County. Those being honored in the parade include local heroes Dr. Darrel Burnett, Grace Doran, Courtney Fielder, and Van Singletary.
The Freedom Committee is made up of local veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. These veterans speak at local schools about their experience in the wars and how it affected them.
The Sports Grand Marshals are medal-winning gymnast Kyla Ross and volleyball star Tom Hoff.
The 2011 Citizen of the Year is Kathy Beaufort, who has lived in Laguna Nigel for 40 years and is a member of the Laguna Nigel Women’s Club, which she joined in 1978. She and her husband Ron have been married for 50 years.
The parade will begin at 10:00 am and will take place on Crown Valley Parkway. A free shuttle will transport viewers from the Ziggurat parking lot to the center of the parade route.
The shuttle service will begin at 9:00 am and will continue transporting viewers until 1:00 pm. For more information call (949) 425-5100.
Print companies are an excellent resource for printing parade maps, thanking sponsors, and giving detailed information about parade participants and honorees – something the organizers will no doubt be taking into account.
