Gingerbread gets ritzy in Laguna Niguel
December 9, 2013 by Mark
The Laguna Niguel Ritz-Carlton hotel has made the holiday season a little sweeter with its Gingerbread Spectacular. All through the month of December, a series of colorful and festive gingerbread creations will be on display at the hotel.
The hotel’s executive pastry chef headed a group of culinary artisans in creating the dynamic designs. More than 1,600 hours went into the creation of the varied displays. Viewers may be surprised to see more than just the traditional gingerbread cottages on view. Instead, the chefs chose to honor the hotel’s ocean-side location and ‘Spirit of Giving’ theme by presenting designs such as Spongebob Squarepants’ pineapple house, decorated with bright yellow and red jelly beans, and an edible Bruce the Shark from the film ‘Finding Nemo’.
In addition to the requisite gingerbread, a selection of alternative sweets and snacks was needed to create the works. The artisans made use of popcorn, chocolate, pretzels, and even cereal to sculpt and decorate.
The visual feast is not just for fun; it also pays tribute to charitable organizations in the community, including Socks for Heroes, Orange County Rescue Mission, and Operation Helping Hands. Anyone wishing to view the displays can stop by the hotel, and it will be on display until December 31.
With such a visually exciting event, the hotel may want to create some additional promotional materials to bring in more visitors and viewers. A local printing company could assist with creating interesting marketing items to incorporate images from the event and information about the good causes it supports.
