Lafayette Christmas celebration will start off the holiday season

November 15, 2016 by

The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce is presenting the 4th annual ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ event in Lafayette in early December, taking place in the downtown area.

Santa will ride Old Betsy (an antique fire engine) and will have a police escort while traveling along the Golden Gate Way until he makes his grand entrance at the park. Once he arrives, he will help to preside over the official tree lighting ceremony.

There will be lots of photo opportunities with Santa, craft activities for children, treats, and musical entertainment provided by local musicians and students. Some of the groups that will be performing include singers from the Stanley Middle School, Lafayette Nursery School, the Contra Costa Children’s Chorus, Lamorinda Theatre Academy ,and Town Hall Theatre Kids.

The celebration is set to finish off with a holiday singalong. There will be free hot chocolate and food trucks will also be on hand.

It is likely that vibrant flyers obtained from local print companies will be distributed all over the Lafayette area to let the public know about the return of this popular annual event.

It’s a Wonderful Life in Lafayette will be held at Plaza Park on Friday, December 2 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. To find out more about the celebration, contact the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce at 925-284-7404.
