Volunteers can help make ‘Christmas for Everyone’. Three hundred volunteers aged 16 and older are needed from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm on Christmas Day to help as singers, magicians, musicians, puppeteers, and other entertainers, as well as volunteers to help serve food and hand out gifts.
Helpers are needed from December 7 – 25 to prepare for the Christmas celebration, on Christmas Day, and again on December 27 to clean everything up.
People can volunteer at the New Hope International Church, 2120 Olivera Road, Concord, just 30 minutes from Lafayette, throughout the week from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm, with earlier starting times of 11:00 am on Friday and 10:00 pm on Saturday.
Volunteers are also need to deliver food and gifts to the homebound on Christmas day, sort clothes, answer phones and hang posters before Christmas. Clean-up will take place from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm on December 26. Christmas for Everyone is a non-profit organization that has been providing food, clothing, and gifts to the working poor in Contra Costa County since 1985.
In addition to volunteers, donations are still needed of gloves, hats, blankets, clothing, gifts, food, sleeping bags, raincoats, ponchos, umbrellas, and lap robes. Monetary donations are always welcome and will be accepted all year round.
For more information, call Mary Perez, director at (925) 228-2233. Copies of posters can be printed up at print companies to display around to town to let people know they can donate and to let people in need know where to obtain help and meals on Christmas Day.
