November 21, 2012 by Mark
Running races on Thanksgiving Day seems to be the trend these days with Turkey Trots all across the state.
The course will travel along La Palma Ave and the Santa Ana River alongside Yorba Regional. The 1K fun run is for kids age 10 and younger. This will be the fifth anniversary of this Turkey Trot, so all legacy runners will be presented with special medals. Winners in each age group and gender will also receive medals.
Moving closer to Christmas, Residents of La Palma can enjoy the joyous sounds of schoolchildren singing at the annual tree lighting ceremony, which will be held on Wednesday, December 5, at the Central Park Amphitheater.
The event begins at 4:30 pm with visits to see Santa and crafts until 5:30 pm, when the tree lighting ceremony begins with a community carol singalong.
The Central Park Amphitheater is located at 7821 Walker Street, La Palma. For more information call (714) 690-3350.
Please note that City Hall offices will be closed on Thursday, November 22, and Friday, November 23, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Trash services will be suspended on Thursday and no street sweeping will take place on Thursday or Friday. Trash service will resume on Friday and street sweeping will resume on Saturday.
City Hall offices and services will also be closed from December 25 through January 1. Postcard printing could be a great way to let residents know of upcoming city hall closures while maintaining a personal touch.
