Family-friendly Halloween about to terrify La Palma
October 24, 2012 by Mark
There are several family-friendly Halloween events in La Palma and the surrounding vicinity this year, kicking off this Friday, October 26.
Nearby spooky events include a Halloween haunted house, taking place from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Oak Street, Los Alamitos.
Admission is $5 and the haunted house features a creepy graveyard, witch’s room, Dracula’s lair, and a spooky toy store. Visitors can sink their teeth into a pumpkin pie contest or compete in a costume contest for prizes. There will also be games and lots of candy. For more information, call (562) 430-1073.
On Halloween night itself, October 31, a carnival will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm at Central Park, 7821 Walker Street, La Palma. This year’s event features a costume contest with prizes for different age divisions, Goblin Gulch for kids aged under five, carnival games, and a haunted area. Admission is free but the event will be canceled in the event of rain. For more information about this, call the Palma Recreation and Community Services Department at (714) 690-3350.
Also on October 31, the city of Cypress will host a Halloween carnival from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Cypress Community Center on 5700 Orange Avenue. This event features family games, trick-or-treating, and live entertainment. Admission is $3 (cash only) with children aged one and under free. Professional Halloween photos will be available for the purchase price of $10 cash. For more information, call (714) 229-6780.
These events offer an opportunity for kids to create their own spooky stories and for parents to make copies at a print company to send to family and friends.
