Irvine and Long Beach residents can get in shape at a variety of sports events over the next few days.

Firstly, runners of all ages can participate in the 2nd annual Labor Day Last Splash Fun Run on Sunday, September 1.

Participants should meet at the Beach Bike Path located at 54th Place and East Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach at 7:00 a.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit Fitness 4 All’s Kid’s Progressive Marathon program.

The races are not timed but participants can be given unofficial times upon request during morning registration. For more information, call Larry at (562) 481-2995.

As well as this, parents can register their children for soccer until Tuesday, September 3, at the Community Youth Center, 2998 Fifth Avenue in Newport Beach.

Each child will receive a jersey, shorts, ball and certificate of completion for this form of excessive, which will help kids burn off their energy and improve their social and team-working skills.

For the adults, a Zumba fitness class will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, at Rivera Park, 9530 Shade Lane in Pico Rivera.

Zumba is an exercise and fitness class that combines elements of dance, including merengue, salsa, and other Latin movements, to provide a fun environment in which to get into shape. Classes will be held September 3 – 26.

Registration is only $30 for residents and $35 for non-residents. Sports registration forms and instruction sheets can all be created with the help of friendly staff at a local print company.
