Irvine residents to get clicking and snapping

Two chances to become more au fait with modern gadgets are available in the area next week.

Firstly, a free workshop for seniors on how to use an Apple Mac computer will be held at the Mac Mall store in Huntington Beach. Instructors will go over the basics of a Mac, how to install devices, and how to use the iLife suite of applications.

The Mac Mall store is located at 16929 Beach Boulevard in huntington Beach, just minutes from Irvine, and the workshop is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 10. Guests should be sure to register in advance and bring their own equipment.

Alternatively, the basics of photography will be taught at a class also beginning at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, but this time at Sam’s Camera, 3309 South Bristol Street in Santa Ana.

This class will go over how light affects the camera’s settings and therefore the outcome of pictures. Learning about this will help photographers take better pictures that do not need to be readjusted later.

New digital cameras will allow the photographer to see the photo immediately after it is taken and make the necessary adjustments for better photos. The class is led by Michael Nadler who has a degree in photojournalism and works in the area of photographic retail management.

The class lasts for three hours and participants should bring a digital SLR camera with lenses, user manual, and SD storage card. Manuals can be downloaded from the Internet and printed at a local printing company.
