Food drives roll in over next two months

A food drive to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County in Irvine will be held on Friday, November 16, through Sunday, November 18, at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

This is the 12th annual Thanksgiving Holiday Canned Food Drive hosted by the Angels’ Groundkeepers and will be held from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm on each day.

For $2, or three food cans, donors can match their batting skills against the Angels pitching machine. There is a limit of 20 pitches per donor. For a $1 donation, or two cans of food, donors can see how fast they can pitch a ball.

With a donation of $25, donors will also have the opportunity to catch fly balls for 15 minutes in the outfield. Helmets, balls, and bats will be provided by the Angels. Donors should enter through gate 1 at Angel Stadium. This is a great opportunity for fans to donate to charity and have a little fun at the same time.

The Second Harvest Food Bank supplies food to charities, who in turn supply food to over 240,000 Orange County people in need each month.

A second food drive, and another reason why flyer printing may currently be underway in the area, will be held by the Roosters Foundation from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm on December 16 at the food bank, 8014 Marine Way, Irvine.

The food will be used to provide over 4,000 boxes of Christmas meals and toys to needy families in Orange County.
