Fitness and festivals coming up for Irvine residents

The New Year is getting closer, so locals can get a head start on fitness at the TaijiFit Teacher training course at Aliso Creek Inn this weekend. The workshop will be led by TaijiFit creator David-Dorian Ross.

Aliso Creek Inn is located at 31106 South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach, less than a 30-minute drive from Irvine. It takes place on Friday, October 11, beginning at 9:00 am.

Also, October means Harvest Festival time, and Irvine residents will be able to purchase original arts and crafts at the festival from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm from October 11 – 13 at the Anaheim Convention Center at 800 West Katella Avenue.

More than 24,000 handcrafted items will be available for purchase, including ceramics, jewelry, hand blown glass, candles, and garden items. For children, there will be a kid zone featuring strolling performers and games for the whole family.

Canned food donations will let donors receive $2 off on their admission, and the food will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank and Knots of Love. Kids ages 12 and younger are free, and tickets allow admission for the entire weekend.

People with food on their mind tomorrow can also create tasty treats with the cookbook ‘A Mixed Girl’s Favorite Recipes’ which will be signed by the author Gloria Govan at a mixer at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 11. Taking place at the Casa Ranchero in Mission Viejo, the publishing of a book is always likely to attract print company employees and suchlike in the area.
