October 17, 2012 by

There are all sorts of fun-packed frights on the way this month in Irvine and the local area. Coming up first is the 5th annual Great Park Pumpkin Harvest that will be held from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm this Saturday, October 20.

The pumpkin harvest is also the kick-off for the Great Park Food Drive that will take place all month long. Visitors can bring non-perishable food items that will be used to help families in need and food banks during the upcoming holiday season.

The event will include carnival games, pumpkin carving demonstrations, arts and crafts, and a scavenger hunt. Taking place at the Orange County Great Park on Marine Way, admission is free but parking is $10. For more information, call (866) 829-3829.

The weekend after, Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour will be the host for the 2nd annual ‘I Scream for Ice Cream Contest’ on Sunday, October 28, so it would be no surprise to see banner printing out in force in support of the event.

Beginning at 1:00 pm at the Orange County Market Place in Costa Mesa, this event is part of the 15th annual Trick or Treat Festival. Competitions will be held in two divisions – Kids age 13 and older and Children age 12 and under.

Winners will receive a $50 Farrell’s Zoo Party for first place, $30 in ice cream for coming second, and $10 worth for third. The contest is limited to 15 contestants in each division. Entrants who register in advance will receive free admission.

Admission is $2 for those aged 13 and older, while those aged 12 and younger are free. For more information call (949) 723-6660.
