New green home on display

May 20, 2013 by

This Thursday, May 23, should be a busy day in the area, with two evening offerings for people looking to amuse themselves.

Firstly, they can take a trip from Huntington Beach to the Orange County Great Park in Irvine to see the new ABC Green Home.

This one-of-a-kind home utilizes planning, design, science and engineering to create an ideal green home that also features accommodations for the handicapped. The State of California has mandated that net zero energy use should be in place by the year 2020. This house is the answer to that mandate.

Tours will be given at 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Admission is $15 for AIA members and $30 for nonmembers. Members can receive one learning credit.

The home was designed by Ktgy Group, and the park is located at 6950 Marine Way, Irvine. For more information, call (949) 225-5900.

Also on May 23 at 6:00 p.m. is a forum with entrepreneur Wing Lam, the cofounder and partner of Wahoo’s Fish Taco; and TCVN chairman and cofounder of, Ash Kumra.

Lam is the oldest three brothers, and he cofounded Wahoo’s with his brothers in 1988. He has over 37 years of restaurant experience and supports many local and community-based events.

Kumra was recently recognized as one of the top 100 young entrepreneurs who impact America by the White House. He has also written the series ‘Confessions from an Entrepreneur’.

The forum will be held at Knobbe Martens LLP, 2040 Main Street, Irvine. Many entrepreneurs make use of a local printing company as a way to save costs when starting a fledgling business, as well as for business card printing orders.
