Treat on the way for local mothers

May 9, 2013 by

This weekend will offer a rare chance for moms to relax at the 2nd annual Mother’s Day Brunch, in San Francisco at the Galeria de la Raza, just over 30 minutes from Hayward. Entertainment options are diverse and will continue throughout the day.

A whole art studio will be showcased, labeled ‘Empujando Tinta’, which is a rework of the globally acclaimed Tupac Amaru’s art. This exhibit focuses on social justice issues, and the motives are incorporated in art prints and political posters that have revived the medium of screen printing. Perhaps local poster printing services will allow visitors to take home an attention-grabbing poster of their own.

Music will be provided by special guest Joshua Coffy, whose recent debut album titled ‘See You Again’ was well-received. Other performances include La Gente with vocalist Jillian Picazo and songwriter Stina da Silva.

The food will be provided by Lovage Cooking and includes all-you-can-eat tapas and tamales. Specially made foods like mole verde made from scratch with beef sausage, wild mushrooms, and three cheeses will be served giving authentic food options. Many more foods and desserts will be served along with house made beverages for just $2-$3, or even free with deluxe admission.

Kids under 12 are free of charge and there will be a room devoted solely to kids’ activities during the afternoon. Due to limited seating, reservations must be made. Volunteer discounted tickets are also available for a limited time.

The brunch will start at noon on May 12, and tickets can be reserved tickets today.
