Kids’ beloved character comes to the stage

March will see a range of activities for youngsters in the area, starting with a play next week.

Kids are sure to enjoy the performance of ‘Ramona Quimby’, from the book by Beverly Cleary, taking place at 10:00 am on Friday, March 15, at the Buffington Visual and Performing Arts Center in Hayward.

Ramona is a third grader who is both exasperating and lovable. She lives with her older sister Beezus, her dad, and her Aunt Bea. This show is recommended for students in first through fifth grade. Tickets are $11. For more information, call (800) 497-5007.

Closing the month, the annual Bonnet Parade and Egg Hunt will be held from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 30, at Kennedy Park.

The parade will be led by the Easter Bunny himself for kids age six and younger who come dressed in homemade bonnets. Prizes will be given to the most unusual, pretty, and colorful bonnets. The egg hunt is for kids aged 3 – 9 years. For more information, call (510) 888-0211.

Another opportunity for all the family is coming up this weekend, as All Pro Wrestling hosts ‘Gym Wars’ at 7:30 pm on Saturday, March 9, at its facility located at 21063 Cabot Boulevard in Hayward. Admission to the taping of this show is free with the donation of three cans of food and an unopened toy which will be donated to the needy.
