There is a new way to fly the friendly skies in Hayward, with the arrival of Meridian.

The private aviation company offers full service flights and will now use Hayward Executive Airport as the base for one of its aircraft. Meridian operates its charter flights from California to New York and has a fleet of 21 aircraft.

The aircraft based at Hayward is a nine-passenger Citation XLS jet which is Wi-Fi equipped and will begin flights in February.

Andrew Ladouceur, vice president of charter sales and client services, said:

“By establishing ourselves in Hayward, San Jose and Sonoma County, we are now in a position to handle increasing demand in the region and fully serve our charter clients from coast to coast.

“We are truly excited about this opportunity.”

The charter service also opened new offices in San Jose and Santa Rosa. For more information, call (201) 288-5040.

Also on a voyaging note, visitors to the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center can “Take a walk on the wild side” with artist Christopher Bettencourt until March 3. An artist’s reception was held to open the event on Saturday, January 19.

Bettencourt has spent most of his life exploring the waterways and trails of California. This exhibit is a virtual journey of the California coastline from the foothills of the interior to the peaks of the Sierra Nevada and Cascade ranges.

The center is located at 4901 Breakwater Avenue, Hayward. For more information, call (510) 670-7270. Digital business cards allow businesses to remain in touch with customers and are convenient and easy to use on smartphones.
