Gardena folks in for a week of clowning around

Two opportunities for amusement are on offer to locals who might be looking to vanquish their winter blues with a chuckle or two.

This evening, Gardena residents can get a laugh-a-minute with the comedy group Singularcity at the Warehouse bar in Marina Del Rey.

The show begins at 6:30 pm tonight at the Warehouse Bar, 4499 Admiralty Way, Marina Del Rey.

Tomorrow morning, November 12, the Spymonkey Clown Masterclass will teach participants how to be the perfect clown. This session is for professional clowns who wish to broaden their clowning experience and develop their physical comedy.

Starting at 10:00 am, participants will learn the specific aspects that make them funny and will expand them in order to make audiences laugh. Students will learn how to become a unique clown and develop the required talents.

The classes are led by Aitor Basauri, who has been quoted as saying:

“For an actor the clown stimulates a fresh immediacy full of pleasure and mischief. It is this brimming pleasure that fills the performer and touches an audience.

“The audience in turn feel they are watching something very special and unique because the clown is generous, sharing with them their most intimate vulnerability, fun and unique personality.”

Spymonkey is the creator of the hit shows Stiff, Moby Dick, Oedipussy, and Cooped which the group has performed in Montreal, Las Vegas, Australia, and Great Britain.

The Artworks Theatre is located at 6567 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles. Banner printing is a great attention-getter for promoting local comedy events like these in Gardena.
