For Gardena residents, there are plenty of non-scary activities for children and their families nearby this Halloween season.
Halloween crafts, games, and activities will be available from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Tuesday, October 23 at the Mark Twain Branch Library in Los Angeles. There will be a special display of suggested crafts utilizing books from the library. Call (323) 755-4088 to find out more.
A Halloween Fun Fair will also be held from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm on the same day at Harbor City-Harbor Gateway Branch Library, 24000 S. Western Avenue, Los Angeles. For more information call (310) 534-9520. Events include treats, Halloween games, costume contest, and other activities.
A children’s Halloween costume dance will be held from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Saturday, October 27 at Nakaoka Community Center, 1670 W 162nd Street, Gardena for ages 5 – 11. Admission is $3 and includes the costume contest, prizes, and snacks. Call (310) 217-9537 for further info on this.
In celebration of the night of fright itself, Halloween Haunts will be held from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm on Wednesday, October 31 at three locations: Rowley Park on South Van Ness Avenue, Mas Fukai Park on 15800 South Brighton Avenue, and Freeman Park at 2100 West 154th Place.
Each festival location will have game booths, a haunted house (with a nominal fee), food booths, movies, and crafts. Costume contests begin at 7:30 pm at all parks. Printing companies are a good way to get reproducible materials for kids to color for holiday events and may be used here.
