Donors and volunteers sought to help needy

There are many opportunities to donate time, money, and food items to local communities around Gardena for Thanksgiving.

Covenant House California, 325 North Western Avenue, Los Angeles is accepting donations of non-perishable food items, baby wipes, and diapers. These programs provides support for homeless youth aged 18 – 24. For more information, call Sister Margaret Farrell at (323) 461-3131 ext. 237.

Volunteers are needed to help serve Thanksgiving dinner to homeless families on skid row at Fred Jordan Missions. They plan on serving a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to the hungry in this area. The mission offers meals every day for the homeless. For more information, call (626) 915-1981.

The House of Blues in Orange County will provide Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, November 24. Volunteers are needed to assist on either of two shifts: 8:00 am – 11:30 am or 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Volunteers can visit the Big Sunday volunteering opportunities website to find out how to get involved

One Incredible Family in Playa del Rey will also provide Thanksgiving meals on Saturday. This organization helps the homeless, children affected by HIV/AIDS, the elderly, and other needy children in Los Angeles County.
