‘Dynasties and Beyond’ is the theme of the performance by the Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company, which will see in this weekend at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center Foundation located at 3330 Civic Center Drive, Torrance, just 13 minutes from Gardena.

The Lily Cai combines modern dance with ancient Chinese forms to create a new artistic style that switches from remote regional cultures, to ancient Chinese Dynasties, to contemporary ribbon dancing. Tickets are $32.50 and $29.50 for subscribers and the performance takes place at 8:00 pm on Saturday, April 6. For more information, call (310) 781-7171

Right next door to Gardena, the El Camino College Center for the Arts will also host a screening of the film ‘Budapest to Istanbul and Cruising the Danube’ this weekend

The film will be shown at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 8. The film is narrated by Clint Denn who journeyed through Budapest, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey, where he visited many historic sites. Included is the medieval Pecs, the Mosque Church dating from the time of the Ottomans, and Domony Village with its Puszta horses. All seats are $7.

Moving towards the end of the month, local super troupers will not want to miss Abbamania at 8:00 pm on Saturday, April 27, also at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center. This act features nine musicians and singers, as well as a live band.

Tickets to the rock musical are $37.50 general admission and $34 for subscribers, so poster printing will no doubt be in motion so that fans of the group have something to take home with them.
