Jobs on the books for this weekend
September 2, 2013 by Mark
Two workshops – one for business and one for leisure – are on their way this weekend.
Firstly, a job acquisition skills workshop will be held for jobseekers in just a few days at Bridges to Jobs in Fremont.
This is geared around helping jobseekers to update their résumé and build their interviewing skills. This year’s workshop will feature two panels of speakers composed of recruiting and human resource professionals.
Topics to be covered include what formats to use for résumés, current interview questions, how employers screen resumes, and how to interview. The afternoon session will include an actual interview demonstration with tips.
Attendees should bring a resume to be reviewed. Reviews are in 20-minute increments and must be scheduled in advance during registration. A networking lunch will be included with admission.
Scholarship tickets for those in need and free partner tickets are also available. Admission is $11.00. Bridges to Jobs is located at 4360 Central Avenue in Fremont, and the workshop is scheduled for September 7.
On a different note, a workshop on how to make handmade books will be held at 1:00 pm this Saturday at Fabrika Enterprises, 1757 East Bayshore Road in Redwood City.
This class will cover four different ways to construct books: the accordion, the single sheet book, dos-a-dos, and the three hole pamphlet stitch.
Everyone will take home their projects and will learn how to use bookbinding tools. Children under the age of 10 must have an adult with them, and might way to consider visiting a printing company to have their work professionally produced afterwards.
