Searching for the next Miss El Cajon

February 8, 2014 by

Organizers of the Miss El Cajon Scholarship Association want to encourage more young ladies to throw their hat into the competition, and they have another couple of weeks to apply.

The pageant has been an El Cajon tradition since its inception back in the 1960s. It is divided into four age groups for contestants aged from 10 up to 24 years of age. To be eligible, entrants must either be residents of El Cajon or students at Cuyamaca or Grossmont College. Each division will crown two young ladies. The winner of each age group is crowned Miss El Cajon with second place carrying the Miss Rancho San Diego title.

An in-person interview, conducted by a panel of judges, provides contestants a chance to share their hopes, dreams and vision of what it would mean to be Miss El Cajon 2014. Once crowned, winners reign as goodwill ambassadors while taking part in community events. Additionally, those who win the title of Miss El Cajon will qualify for entrance in the 2014 Miss California pageant sponsored by the Council for Youth Empowerment.

Local pageants like this one are an excellent opportunity for area businesses to gain recognition as sponsors of a promotional poster or a catalog printing campagin. Entries for Miss El Cajon may be submitted until February 22, with the pageant scheduled to take place in March. Interested parties can learn more via email directed to
