Library doesn’t fail to miss a trick

Illusionist Dana Law, also known as the ‘Amazing Dana’, will be returning once again to his “magical roots” later this week.

Barely 40 minutes from El Cajon, at the Encinitas Library, Law will be performing his combination of magical illusions and a healthy living program. The ‘Eating Right and Getting Exercise – If you Do, Then You Will Have a Magical Life’ presentation fits in well with the 2013 California Summer Reading Program, called ‘Reading Is So Delicious!’

Starting a 4:00 pm this Wednesday, July 17, the ‘Amazing Dana’ will delight children with card and animal tricks, all the while expounding on the importance of healthy eating and exercise. Themes include eating five portions of fruit and veg every day and eating plenty of fish to be able to develop brain power while building a strong body like that of the Harry Houdini. The information they receive during the program may change the course of their lives. Ideally, the library will order a poster printing of information from the program to continue to inspire young library patrons.

Law’s attraction to magic began at the age of eight and his first magic tricks came out of books he checked out of the library in Los Angeles, where he grew up. Dana Law spent time after leaving the Army working in his family’s business here in El Cajon. Both his love of magic and his interest in physical fitness and healthy living came from his father. Next month he and a companion will spend two weeks hiking across part of Oregon and Washington state.
