It’s time for the street fair at Ocean Beach

With most children being out of school and with seasonal temperatures being perfect for outdoor activities, now is an ideal time for family and friends to get out and celebrate. That is just what the Ocean Beach area is planning. It is anticipated that over 70,000 people will come to Newport Avenue this summer for the 33rd Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off Festival.

The celebration will take place next Saturday, June 23, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. The beachside event, located just 15 miles southwest of El Cajon, has become something of a tradition that typically has drawn thousands of residents and tourists each year for over three decades now. With this year being a celebration of Ocean Beach’s 125th Anniversary, efforts have been taken to make this festival even more special. Families will be able to enjoy two new attractions at Saratoga Park; a water slide and laser tag.

Performed on six different stages, live music and other forms of entertainment will continue for the duration of the festival. Though the Chili Cook-Off competition is sold out, future contestants still have the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list. There will be all sorts of unique vendors present who may want to showcase their wares with poster printing or banner printing. There will be wall climbing, a beer and spirits garden, a community mural art project, thrilling rides, and much more.

Families are invited to attend, as the event and the trolley service are free to the public.
