Workshops ahead for the college bound and those seeking investors

October 6, 2013 by

A workshop for all college-bound students will be held early next week at the Sequoia High School, 1201 Brewster Avenue in Redwood City, 40 minutes from Dublin.

The workshop, led by Christine VanDeVelde, will help students and parents navigate the process of what can feel like an overwhelming task.

VanDeVelde is co-author of the book ‘College Admission: From Application to Acceptance, Step by Step’, which is a how-to manual for filling out college application forms.

The workshop will explain how to find the right college, what’s important to college admissions departments, how important testing is, and how to apply for financial aid. It also offers advice for students in sports and the arts.

This event is free and a Spanish translation will be provided. The workshop will be held from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Tuesday, October 8. For more information, call Charlene Margot at (650) 868-0590.

There will be two different events for entrepreneurs who need to make pitches to investors. They will both be held on Wednesday, October 9 at 6:00 pm.

The first one will be held at the Popup Hood & Hub, 1423 Broadway in Oakland which is only 26 minutes from Dublin. The second event takes place at Ennerspace 2225 E. Bayshore Rd. in Palo Alto.

Both workshops will instruct participants on the finer art of presenting pitches, and will offer advice on what to say and what not to do. Applications and business proposals can be printed professionally at brochure printers.
