The Concerts at Wente Vineyards has a great lineup of shows in August. First up is award-winning pianist and singer Diana Krall at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Krall’s music is full of breathy vocals inspired by Brazil. Her newest album paints a picture of intimacy and is perfect for a date night out.

“I was inspired to do this record because of my trip last year to Brazil,”

says Krall who has been compared to Peggy Lee and Julie London.

“Then I just kept going back and found that everywhere you go you still hear the sounds of Jobim and bossa nova.”

Canadian Krall was born into a musical family and continued that education by attending Berklee School of Music. She won a Grammy for best jazz vocal for “When I Look in Your Eyes” in1999.

Up next is a concert by actor and comedian Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers. “An Evening of Bluegrass and Comedy” will be performed at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. The groups album, “Rare Bird Alert,” was recently nominated for a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album.

The group has been touring together for three years and won Entertainer of the Year last year at the International Bluegrass Association Awards. Martin has won four Grammys.

Tickets for both concerts range from $89 to $289.

Wente Vineyards is located at 5050 Arroyo Road, Livermore, just 20 minutes from Dublin. For more information call (925) 456-2424. Postcard printing is a great way to let concert subscribers know about upcoming additions to a venue.
