Safeway stores to collect food for needy

November 5, 2012 by

All 100 of the Bay Area Safeway stores will be collecting non-perishable food items at their stores from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on November 17, 2012.

This one day collection effort is expected to raise 30,000 bags of food for their Holiday Food Drive to help the needy this year.

The collected donations will go to benefit local Bay Area food banks, including the Second Harvest Food Banks of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, Alameda County Community Food Bank, Redwood Empire Food Bank, Napa Valley Food Bank, and the San Francisco Food Bank.

Teams of volunteers are still needed at each location to assist with collection. Safeway stores in Dublin are located at 4440 Tassajara Road and 7499 dublin Blvd.

Dublin’s 28th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at the Dublin Civic Center, 100 Civic Plaza.

This free event is the kick off to the holiday season and will feature Christmas carols and live entertainment by the Dublin High School jazz group and the Dublin Unified Elementary School choir. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available as well. Santa Claus is expected to show and listen to the Christmas wishes of children of all ages. For more information, call (925) 556-4500.

The holiday tree will make a great back drop for a Christmas picture. Postcard printing is an inexpensive way to mail out Christmas wishes and a beautiful family picture.
