The classes are open to any children aged seven and older and to anyone who has purchased a Living Social discount coupon. No prior experience is needed to create a work of art, and all materials will be provided.

The focus will be on experimenting with different types of craft materials and on learning techniques. The two workshops are scheduled for 1:00 pm this Saturday, August 10, and 10:00 am on Saturday, August 24.

There is also a chance to expand on the learning experience at a workshop at the Source Photography Studio, 1136 Saranap Avenue in Walnut Creek this weekend.

This is a hands-on, comprehensive session that teaches the fundamentals of photo edition and retouching of photographs. It will last three hours and will explain how different changes on the camera settings affect the photos.

Software used includes Lightroom, iPhoto, and Photoshop, while subjects covered will include the histogram, white balance, exposure, shadows, highlights, blacks and whites, and saturation.

The class size is kept small so instruction can be personalized to the student, and it will be taught by award-winning professional photographers.

The cost of the class includes power for laptops and tablets, instructional handouts, notepads, and pens and non-alcoholic beverages. It begins at 1:00 pm this Saturday, August 10 and students should bring mobile device loaded with several digital photos, as well as photo editing software. Students can also consider turning their favorite photo into a keepsake with poster printing service.
