All about the kids this weekend in Dublin

December 12, 2013 by

All those boys and girls who will be attending kindergarten for the first time can get a “taste of kindergarten” this Friday, December 13, at St. Perpetua School, 3454 Hamlin Road in Lafayette.

Parents will be able to talk with teachers and school staff while enjoying coffee and goodies. Future students will be able to participate in a fun project with the kindergarten teacher.

Registration is required for the event and parents must stay on campus for the entire time. Parents will be able to find out if their child is ready for kindergarten emotionally and academically, and if they themselves are ready for their child to attend school.

Dublin residents will also want to check out the Orinda Ballet Academy Company’s production of ‘A Sweet Dream Nutcracker’, which will be presented on Friday, December 13, at 6:30 pm in the Orinda Library, 24 Orinda Way. No doubt poster printing companies are helping spread the word about this one.

The Nutcracker is a classic Christmas ballet that sees Clara experiencing a fantastic dream after her Uncle Drosselmeyer gives her a special nutcracker for Christmas. When her brother breaks the doll, she is heartbroken and falls asleep under the Christmas tree where she dreams of characters like the Snow Queen and the evil Mouse King.

Additional performance dates are 11:30 am and 4:00 pm on December 14 and 11:30 am and 3:30 pm on December 15.

Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. For more information, call (925) 254-2445.
