To Russia and Back opens end of March

On Saturday, March 31, 2012, the Downey Civic Theatre, home of the Downey Symphonic Society, will be performing “To Russia and Back” at 8435 Firestone Boulevard in Downey, California.
This year’s symphony orchestra programs are based on “Style in Music” and will be featuring music from various historical countries and periods. These shows will also feature the contract between the various musical types.
In To Russia and Back, internationally famous, Kevin Fitz-Gerald, pianist will join the Downey Symphony Orchestra to perform in the conclusion of the show by performing Piano Concerto No. 1 by Franz Liszt. In To Russia and Back works by Dmiti Shostakovich’s Gallop and Symphony No. 9, as well as Peter Illych Tchaikovsky’s Capriciio Italien will also be performed.
Ticket printing has been completed, by a local print company, and tickets are now on sale in advance, or can be purchased at the box office before the event. Tickets are $10.00 for students, $25.00 for balcony seating rows AA, EE, FF, and rows A, B, M, N, and O, or $30.00 for balcony seating rows BB, CC, DD, and rows C – L.
This symphony group also has an educational program with many of its performers attending elementary schools to perform. Throughout the years people have raved about this school program and parents are invited to bring their child and see Kevin Fitz-Gerald’s performance. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most children to see it live.
