Valentine’s Day will welcome Kenny G

February 6, 2013 by

Saxophonist Kenny G will join the Pacific Symphony for three Valentine’s concerts at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa later this month.

Performing with Kenny G are vocalists Brooke Derosa, Monty Linton, Amanda Strader, and Grant Yosenick. Richard Kaufman will conduct the orchestra.

Opening the concert are the ‘OC Can You Sing?’ finalists from the Symphony’s recent competition, singing Broadway favorites. Audience members will determine the winner.

Kenny G has been performing for nearly 30 years and has produced 23 albums. The Grammy Award winner combines pop, Latin and R&B rhythms with his jazz overtones to produce a sound unlike any other.

This is the 34th season for the Pacific Symphony, which presents more than 100 concerts each year and offers numerous education programs to the community, reaching over 275,000 residents.

The Symphony performs classical works from the historical composers to modern composers. It also offers multimedia concerts combining video with music.

In 2010, the Symphony was cited as being one of the country’s top innovative orchestras. It annually commissions works by top composers to present to the community.

During the summer, the Symphony performs outdoor concerts at the Verizon Wireless amphitheater in Irvine. Poster printing no doubt makes for memorable souvenirs for symphony fans who attend these seasonal concerts.

Performance times for Kenny G and the supporting acts are 8:00 pm Thursday, February 14; Friday, February 15; and Saturday, February 16. Tickets range in price from $35 – $185. For more information, call (714) 755-5799.
