Arts for the holidays in Costa Mesa
December 3, 2012 by Mark
There is plenty of entertainment for the holiday season in Costa Mesa this year, including several holiday classics.
Charles Dickens’ famous ‘A Christmas Carol’, set in 19th century London, comes to the stage courtesy of the South Coast Repertory. On stage through December 24, this tale brings to life the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his life changing experience with ghosts on Christmas Eve. Tickets are $26 – $63. For more information, call (714) 708-5555.
Christmas just isn’t Christmas without some favorite holiday music, which, for many, includes the Hallelujah chorus from Handel’s Messiah. The Messiah will be performed at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9. This inspirational oratorio will delight all who come to listen at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa. Tickets are $35 – $100. For more information on what’s going on here, call (714) 755-5799.
Christmas with an Irish lilt will be a feaute on Tuesday, December 11 with the arrival of ‘Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration’ in Segerstrom Concert Hall, also at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $46 – $100. For more information, call (714) 556-2787, but hurry because last year’s concert was sold out.
The dress code for concert performances and plays is usually business casual and no food or drinks are normally allowed inside the seating areas. For further questions, contact the theatre box office. Programs, often from local brochure printers, make great souvenirs and remembrances of a wonderful evening out with family and friends, and will no doubt be available at these performances.
