Vaulting on its way to Old Town Clovis

July 20, 2013 by

The North American Pole Vault Championships will be held at 5:30 pm on Friday, July 26 in Old Town Clovis. Some of the best athletes will be competing in the middle of Pollasky Avenue during the weekly Farmers Market. Locals can come out and watch competitors defy gravity as they vie to fly the highest.

Families can relax afterwards and enjoy a free bluegrass concert at 8:30 pm on the same evening at Clovis Veteran’s Memorial Square, 901 Fifth Street in Clovis.

Bluegrass in the Park with Grassfire will find band members Michale McDonald, Stevo Gillete, Dave Kyle, and Doug Carlton mixing old favorites with new sounds during their concert.

Perhaps the concert will inspire singers to audition for the Fresno Community Chorus Master Chorale’s upcoming 2013-2014 season. The Chorale is now scheduling auditions to be held August 19 – 22 at the CSU Fresno music building at 798 East Keats Avenue, Fresno. Contestants should prepare a short audition piece and bring sheet music with them.

Auditions begin at 9:00 am and at other times by special arrangement. To schedule an audition call Dr. Anna Hamre at (559) 278-2539. Rehearsals will begin August 27 and will be held in the Fresno State Concert Hall.

Music for the concert season will include pieces by C.P.E. Bach and Gabriel Faure, and ‘Home for the Holidays’ performed in conjunction with the Fresno Philharmonic. Banner printing and poster printing are excellent ways to promote local events to residents and to let them know where activities like these are occurring.
