Time for the Great Spring Clean Up in Clovis
February 22, 2013 by Sarah
Now through the end of April, the city of Clovis will offer special free pickup of all kinds of trash from residences.
Acceptable items include prunings cut into four-foot lengths, doors with the hardware removed, lumber no longer than four feet, tree trunks a foot long or less, tree stumps or rootballs of a foot in diameter or less, and palm fronds.
Normal grass cuttings, weeds, and leaves should be put out with the regular trash pickup in the green waste containers.
Metal items accepted include refrigerators with the doors taped shut or removed (non-secured doors pose a hazard for children), lawn mowers, lawn furniture, metal pipes in lengths less than 10 feet, appliances, metal car parts, stoves, water heaters, and swing sets.
Mattresses, furniture and televisions, as well as rolled carpeting and padding will also be picked up.
Items may not be placed at the curb any earlier than two weeks before the scheduled pickup date. Visit the city website for specific dates.
Items must be separated by type and must be at the curb before 6:00 a.m. on the scheduled pick up date. Vehicles need to be parked off the street on the day of pickup to avoid possible damage to them. While this service is free, fees will be charged if the rules are not followed.
To promote the service and encourage resourcefulness, brochure printers can also print informational pamphlets for mailing to residents with information on recycling events and conservation tips.
