Plenty to wine about next week

Three events taking place in the next seven days will allow locals to celebrate California and its wines, with banner printing in the area no doubt reminding everyone of California Wine Month.

First up, and proving that June is not the only season for brides, wedding-planning women can gain inspiration with the Fall Bridal Showcase in the Vineyard at Engelmann Cellars this weekend.

This showcase will feature the valley’s best wedding professionals, exhibitors, food samples, and opportunities to taste wine

It takes place on Sunday, September 22, beginning at 2:00 pm, and a fashion show of bridal wear will get underway at 4:30 pm. Engelmann Cellars is located at 3275 N. Rolinda Avenue in Fresno.

Further to the wine theme, the Fig Garden Village Wine Walk will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, at 5082 North Palm Avenue in Fresno, just 15 minutes from Clovis.

The event is sponsored by the merchants of Fig Garden Village and Habitat for Humanity. Wines will be available from more than 25 wineries and will be paired with food from local restaurants.

Tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple, and all proceeds from the event will benefit the Habitat for Humanity branch in Fresno County. The organization provides affordable housing for residents of Fresno County.

Finally, on the same evening as the walk, Birdstone Winery in Madera will feature a reception and wine tasting event from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in celebration of California Wine Month.

The winery is located at 9400 Road 36 in Madera. Tickets are $35. For more information, call (800) 613-0709.
