The 2nd Evolution International Film Festival will get underway at the Los Angeles Film School this Friday, July 26, with plenty for attendees to enjoy.
Less than half an hour from Brentwood, this festival is a traveling celebration of cinematic achievements from all over the world, and will be an opportunity for cinema fans to experience filmmaking from other countries.
Screenings will be held of all types of films, including narratives, shorts, documentaries, and animations.
The film school is located at 6363 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles. For more information call (877) 9LA FILM.
Film lovers can also start with the basics through a beginners’ portrait photography lighting class with Keith Payson at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 27.
Portrait lighting is much more than just snapping a photo and hoping it comes out alright. Students will learn how to light faces to make every person look their best, how lighting affects different bone structures, exploring backdrops, and the difference between hard and soft lighting.
Each student should bring their own camera and know the basic functions of it. A notepad and pen will also be needed. Guests are reminded to make sure the battery is working, and to brng a memory cards as well. Information from this class can be used to take better photos of family, which can then be given a truly professional touch with the help of a print company.
The class will be held at Samy’s Camera, 4411 Sepulveda Boulevard in Culver City.
