Off the Record to finish off summer concert series
August 23, 2012 by Sarah
The summer is nearly over and so are the last of the weekly summer Concerts in the Park, held at Brea’s City Hall Park, which began July 11 and included a different style of music each Wednesday.
The classic 1980s pop and rock cover band The Reflexx performed last night, August 22. This Orange County-based tribute band plays all the classic songs of the decade, including those by Depeche Mode, U2, Duran Duran, The Cure, and Simple Minds. Those who went along could no doubt reminisce of high-school days in the park.
The final concert will be performed next Wednesday, August 29, by Off the Record, who offer classical big band music to their listeners. The old and the young will enjoy reliving the music of the big band era with Bill Barrett and Off the Record.
Barrett has an impressive resume, playing the flugelhorn and trumpet with both the Harry James and Glen Miller Orchestras. Among the stars Barrett has worked with are George Burns, Steve Allen, Jerry Lewis, Rosemary Clooney, Merv Griffin, and Barry Manilow.
The outdoor concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. Attendees should bring a blanket or lawn chairs to sit on and can either pack a picnic lunch or purchase drinks, frozen yogurt, popcorn and tri-tip sandwiches at the park.
Many cities use banner printing as a way to promote concerts and festivals in their public facilities. City Hall Park is located at 401 South Brea Boulevard. For more information, visit the city of Brea’s website.
